More distressing news for Cambodian football fans. The
Cambodia U-23 team lost 3-2 to one of the world's minnows Timor Leste in their SEA Games group match this evening. It was their best chance of some success in the SEA Games but they blew it. Sos Suhana put Cambodia ahead on 23 minutes but Timor scored twice before the half-time break. Prak Mony Udom put Cambodia level again but a goal three minutes from time gave Timor the points. Frustration once again for the country's football lovers. PPCFC midfielder Bin Thierry had this to say after the game; "We played poorly in the first-half, lost too many balls, but were so much better in the 2nd half. We could've scored a few goals but lacked the killer touch and didn't have the confidence against some bigger and stronger opposition." The PPCFC trio of Thierry, Suhana and keeper Sou Yaty all played, with the latter captaining the side. At least they broke their drought with a couple of goals but it sounds like the lack of a quality finisher and some dodgy defending meant they were second best to one of the up and coming national teams, who've used naturalized players to improve their strength and quality. Cambodia's final SEA Games tie is against the strongest nation in the competition, Thailand, on 16 December.

It says a lot about the strength in depth of Thailand football when star BECTero player Anon Samnad nor any of their BIDC winning squad can make their SEA Games squad. Cambodia can hope that their bench players get a run in their last group game but with all playing in the Thai Premier League it doesn't augur well for coach Lee and his threadbare 16-man Cambodian squad. Can we play Brunei bottom of Group A?
No we can't play Brunei, not even for fun.
I think Cambodian football still have problem with fitness and psychaitry.
The lack of energy and well-training makes poor performance.
I've been watching our football since 1997 .I feel everything the same.

Does the Timor Leste U-23 team now include some of the physically larger Brazil born players as does the senior squad? If so they may not be the minnows they were before as the senior side is much improved with the addition of the Brazil born players
Yes, the Timor team included some overseas players from Brazil and other countries. They are not minnows in terms of the size of their players, but they are in terms of the size of their country and their involvement in international football.
