Big secret

Just before I left for Tajikistan on 22 September, it has come to light that the Cambodia national team played a secret, behind-closed-doors friendly match with the Malaysian national team, two days earlier, with the Malays winning 3-0. Both sides wanted the match without any media attention as the game wasn't an official international friendly. "Since it was just a sparring match, we decided to keep it low key," said the Malaysian team manager. The match was played at the Wisma FAM center with goals from Mohd Zaquan Adha Abdul Radzak and Mohd Safee Sali sealing a 3-0 win for the home team. I think this has only been reported in the Malaysian media, who wondered why it was a big secret.
The match tonight has been confirmed that the Cambodia national team will meet the Malaysian U-23 team, or will they. I'm not convinced they have an U-23 team. They call their junior sides Harimua Muda and they have two as far as I can tell. The Harimua Muda A squad (Under-22) under Kim Swee are currently playing in the Singapore League (and played last night) while the Harimau Muda B squad (Under-19), training under Ismail Ibrahim, played in the Malaysian Premier League this year. Your guess is as good as mine.

Andy,Do you know ? In AFF website Cambodia had submitted their 35 players' names and among them there's a strange name, the last one is Chhunly Pegenburg. As I know he is Khmer-German player and How do you know about this? Is he now in the squad? Please investigate for me,Andy? I'm happy if there're players abroad to play for National team because they are strong physically compared to our players even if they are not good at techniques but we can use the coach to form them as a unit. Thanks Andy,(From SEYLA,Khmer Soccer Fan)

Hi Seyla,
It was a preliminary list of players submitted by the FFC to the AFF. Many of those players have already been rejected by the national coach Hok Sochetra and left at home. Perhaps someone at the FFC had hoped to include Pagenburg at some stage, so left the door open for him, but he's not been involved up til now. I would very much doubt we will see him anytime soon.
