Sakrovy nets winner

Cambodia U-16s. Back Row LtoR: Sovann, Ravan, Baraing, Senteang, Chanpolin, Mesa. Front Row: Noeut, Sodavid, Chansopheak, Nuron, Muslim.
The Cambodian U-16 national team is under the leadership of Phnom Penh Crown's head coach Sam Schweingruber and he's being assisted by Bouy Dary and Ieng Saknida amongst others. Between 20-31 August the U-16s will travel to Napyidaw in Myanmar to take part in the AFF U-16 Championship qualifiers against Brunei, Vietnam, Myanmar and Australia. A tough ask by any standards. A squad of 30 players have been training for a few weeks now and on Saturday morning took on a Svay Rieng U19 & U16 combined team at RSN Stadium. It was a close game but the national team squad came out on top with a single goal victory, scored by Mat Sakrovy on 70 minutes. The majority of the squad come from the PPCFC Academy with Svay Rieng and Prek Kdam also supplying some of the boys and Sim Mesa is a keeper from Boeung Ket. The U-16s next take on a visiting Academy team from HAGL Arsenal JMG from Vietnam at the opening of the new football training center in Tonle Bati on Tuesday morning.
