Result: Phnom Penh Crown Academy U-14 5 FFC Academy U-14 2 (Friendly).
The Academy U-14s travelled to Tonle Bati this morning to take on the FFC Academy boys who they are grooming for the 2023 SEA Games, which will be held in Cambodia. The Federation have appointed a Japanese coach and selected boys after trials about six months ago or more. No Crown boys were included and so this game pits the Federation's youngsters against Crown's best U-14s. In the previous meetings, Crown have won both games and our boys made it a hat-trick of victories in this morning's practice match. FFC began like a train and opened the scoring on five minutes. Mao Piseth waited just two minutes before he fired in from an acute angle to level the scores with an excellent strike. Two minutes later and a miskick by Academy keeper Kung Rafat and FFC went ahead again. At the end of the first of four quarters of 25 minutes each, FFC were in front. Twelve minutes into the second quarter and Svang Samnang playing in defence rather than his usual goalkeeping position, lashed a 25-yard free-kick into the top corner for a brilliant leveller. Seconds before the break, Sin Kakada crossed and Sok Panha got a touch to put Crown 3-2 ahead. The only goal of the third quarter went to Crown as Nop David fed Piseth and he took a touch before driving the ball into the roof of the net. Five minutes into the final period and Kakada cut in from the wing and curled a beauty into the top corner to give Crown a deserved 5-2 victory. After the game the Crown youngsters, who included three of the club's community boys, were treated to lunch at the Tonle Bati lakeside.
