Individual performances

A couple of individual performances stand out in the Hun Sen Cup group matches played over the past week. In Kompong Thom, on a pitch that I've seen myself and can confirm is not easy to play on, let alone control the ball with any degree of certainty, so for Khuon Laboravy to score 10 against Preah Vihear in a 20-nil rout yesterday, is no mean feat. However, even Laboravy's ten was eclipsed the day before when Kirivong's In Vichheka (pictured) went one better and scored eleven goals in a 16-0 victory over Kompong Speu, the match being played in Takeo. Both players are known for their dribbling skills and close ball control. The group matches have one more series of games before they come to a close on Wednesday. The top two teams from each of the eight groups then progress to the knockout rounds beginning on 22 January in Phnom Penh.
