It was raining goals at the RSN Stadium this morning, with the two Phnom Penh Crown teams recording convincing scorelines in the Barclays Capital ISF matches. The B-team (a mix of Academy and non-Academy U-14s) in the Premier League went first, beating Andong 11-2 with Ly Sovannara scoring four and birthday boy Heng netting a hat-trick. Then it was time for the full Academy team to strut their stuff in the Champions League and they went to town on their opponents from Andong, registering their biggest win of the season to-date, 22-0. It was legalized football murder as In Sodavid netted within two minutes and the goals just kept coming. Pov Ponvuthy was in red-hot form, hitting a hat-trick in as many minutes, and an Andong defender volleyed into his own net before the twinkle-toes of Mat Sakrovy joined the fray, scoring four in two, two-minute spells. Ponvuthy raced clear to add two more to his tally to bring it up to five, Vat Samnang, Sodavid and a scorcher from Sath Rozak earned Crown a 14-0 half-time massacre. Within a minute of the re-start, Ken Chansopheak scored and Suon Noeut added two more before Andong packed everyone into their box. Choun Chanchav whacked a free-kick through the wall, Theang Chhaya scored from the penalty spot as Andong started picking up bookings, before Orn Chanpolin with two and Chhaya rounded off a comprehensive 22-0 drubbing. The woodwork assisted in lessening the score by half a dozen as well. PPCFC now lead the Champions League table after 10 games, with 10 wins, 120 goals scored and none conceded. Knee injuries ruled out Yeu Muslim and Phoeun Sopheak, the latter is due to go to New Zealand for testing with the club's Asia Pacific Academy partners but faces a race against time to be fit.
