Young Crown beat Albirex

The first of two practice matches at RSN gave a young Phnom Penh Crown B-team some playing time, two halves of thirty minutes each, against a team full of Khmer trialists, testing out for the newest team in the C-League, Albirex Niigata. Touch Sokheng blasted Crown's earliest opportunity over the cross bar but it wasn't long, 11 minutes to be exact, before Ly Morslim was on the spot to poke home Chea Dara's right wing run and center and open the scoring. Svang Samnang got a strong hand to deny Albirex their best chance of the half, while Chhom Pisa let rip only to see his blast clear the cross bar, and Leng Makara sent an effort skidding wide. Crown fielded no less than six Academy players for the start of the second half with Sodavid, Chanpolin, Baraing and Sovann joining Titchhy and Samnang in the line-up. Pisa headed an early effort over the bar and then unleashed a volley that had goal written all over it, until the Albirex keeper pulled off a superb fingertip save. Sraing Titchhy was prominent on the left wing and he had a good chance saved by the keeper too. Morslim ran onto a Thourng Da header and picked his spot inside the far post for Crown's second goal on 53 minutes. Orn Chanpolin's pass sent Titchhy away but his powerful drive rebounded off the upright and moments later, he cleared the bar with another good opportunity. In the final minute, Morslim saw his hat-trick hopes dissolve as he whacked Dara's through ball against the cross bar, with the game's last move of note.
