Final training session

The Crown squad arrive for training at Clementi Stadium
Tonight's training session for the Phnom Penh Crown team was on the other side of the island of Singapore. Tampines Rovers have moved their home ground this season, due to their old pitch being slated for redevelopment, but it means the Clementi Stadium is nearly 45 minutes away by bus. So a fair old trek for their fans. I understand the Clementi is the home for waif and stray football teams. The team trained for an hour under floodlights on the pitch where the game will be played tomorrow night. As we arrived, Tampines were just finishing their session. Pitch was in good condition as are our players with no injury worries. Earlier in the day, at player registration, it was confirmed that Henry Asonibe is eligible to play after some concern that he couldn't appear. One of our players Hong Pheng is now known as Hong Heng for this competition after the passport authorities missed off the 'p' from his 2nd name when they issued his new passport. Stupidity rules. The game tomorrow starts at 7.45pm. The Crown team have breakfast at 7am, mid-day team meeting, lunch immediately afterwards then we leave for the ground at 5.30pm. We know it's going to be a bloody tough game but it's why we are here, to pit ourselves against better teams in the region and see how well we can compete. If we stay cocooned at home, we will never improve. The AFC President's Cup and the Singapore Cup give the Crown team and players the opportunity to better themselves.
