I couldn't make the game yesterday afternoon, as midweek matches clash with my day job, but in my absence, Kirivong's 3-1 win over Chhlam Samuth took them level on points at the top of the Metfone C-League with Crown though the reigning champions have a better goal difference, so the Takeo-based team remain in 2nd spot. Nelson Oladiji gave notice of his intention to keep at the top of the goalscorer's chart with his 7th of the season to open the scoring on 38 minutes and his Nigerian teammate Berejo Muhammea added a 2nd a minute before the break. In Vichheka, who dazzles but often fails to deliver, struck home just after the hour and Kirivong even scored for Chhlam Samuth on the stroke of full-time, with an own goal from Touch Sokheng. It was a 2nd disappointment for the former Navy team, coming on the heels of their weekend defeat by Crown.
The weekend games will be upon us again before we know it and for Phnom Penh Crown it's their final league match before they cram in 3 games in 5 days during the AFC President's Cup tournament which begins the following weekend. Their crunch game with BBU will start at 4pm on Saturday with Crown eager to avenge their cup exit at the hands of the students, as well as retain their top spot in the table, going into the mini-break. The Army meet Prek Pra at 2pm on the same afternoon. On Sunday, Preah Khan Reach will hope to discover winning ways against the National Police, whilst a revitalised Naga Corp team will look to put one over rank bottom club Rithysen.
